In the land of Velara, the skies were always blue. The Eternal Sapphire Skies, as they were known, stretched endlessly across the heavens, a dazzling and unchanging expanse of light. For generations, the people of Velara had lived beneath this celestial marvel, its radiance a constant reminder of peace and prosperity. The legend said that the skies had been woven by ancient gods, a gift to the people of Velara—a shield from the darkness that once plagued the world. It was said that as long as the Sapphire Skies remained, the land would be safe, untouched by the horrors that existed beyond.
Lyra had always believed in this truth, like everyone else. She was born and raised in Caldara, a peaceful city nestled at the base of the soaring Veritas Mountains. The people here had a deep connection with the skies, worshipping them, revering them, and living their lives under their protective glow. No one questioned the permanence of the sky, for it had been a symbol of stability and hope for as long as anyone could remember. Yet, there was something stirring within Lyra—a quiet unease, a whisper that called her to look beyond what was obvious, to search for something deeper, something hidden beneath the surface of this seemingly perfect world.
It had started with a single, disquieting discovery: an old, crumbling text hidden in the archives of Caldara’s grand library. Lyra, a scholar by nature, had spent countless hours poring over ancient scrolls, transcribing forgotten texts and translating long-lost languages. She had a passion for history, for the stories that shaped her world. One rainy afternoon, as she searched through the library’s oldest section, a dusty tome caught her eye. Its cover was faded, its pages yellowed with age. But something about it felt different. There was a strange energy about the book, as if it were calling to her.
She opened it carefully, the ancient paper creaking beneath her fingertips. The language was unlike any she had seen before, written in a flowing script that seemed to dance on the page. Lyra recognized some of the symbols but not enough to fully understand the meaning. She spent hours with the text, cross-referencing it with other records, trying to decipher its contents. What she found troubled her deeply.
The text spoke of the Eternal Sapphire Skies, but not as a divine gift. It told a different story—a story of a time before the skies were blue, when darkness covered the earth and shadows ruled the land. It spoke of a time when a great war had torn the world apart, a war fought between light and shadow, between the forces of creation and destruction. And in the end, when the war was over, the skies were sealed—bound by powerful magic, never to fade or change. But the text hinted at something more: a warning. It spoke of a time when the magic that held the skies would weaken, when the balance between light and dark would be threatened once more. And in that moment, the shadows would rise again, beneath the eternal sapphire skies.
