The king is hated, but he is feared. The bravest whisper treason in dark corners, but there are few who will stand against him. His soldiers are better trained and better equipped, they are ruthless, and they are led by a clergy who have transcended mortality.
Vale, armed with nothing but her bow, does not see a king. She sees the one who murdered her mother. For that, the king must die. She swore the oath on the night her home was burned, and now she must see it done.
After joining the rebels, she learns her path to vengeance will not be as easy as she hoped. Her people do not want her, her friends do not trust her, and the commander of the forces gathered in her name wants her to stay in the shadows.
With the kingdom and her life in ruins, she must forge herself into a weapon, unite her people, and embrace her birthright before the usurper tears apart her army of beggars and takes her power for himself.
