ইছামতী একটি ছোট নদী। অন্তত যশোর জেলার মধ্য দিয়ে এর যে অংশ প্রবাহিত, সেটুকু। দক্ষিণে ইছামতী কুমির-কামট-হাঙ্গর-সংকুল বিরাট নোনা গাঙে পরিণত হয়ে কোথায় কোন সুন্দরবনে সুঁদ্রি-গরান গাছের জঙ্গলের আড়ালে বঙ্গোপসাগরে মিশে গিয়েচে, সে খবর যশোর জেলার গ্রাম্য অঞ্চলের কোনো লোকই রাখে না।
